ABOUT PRAIRIE PRIME
Prairie Prime LLC is an Oklahoma based outdoors company providing integrated hunting solutions for the modern day upland bird and waterfowl hunter through ownership of the Epagneul Breton and English Cocker Spaniel gun dog. Prairie Prime's breeding dogs have been proven in the field and water and are health certified in order to increase the likelihood of producing offspring inheriting excellent health, temperament, hunting ability, and conformation. Our versatile dogs live an active lifestyle outdoors serving as our upland and waterfowl gun dogs a minimum of 60 days per season and otherwise are with us indoors as family companions. If you are looking for a versatile gun dog bred by avid upland bird and waterfowl hunters that demand the best from their dogs in wild bird environments and in their home you have come to the right place. We do not "trade" in dogs and we only produce 2-3 litters per year. We absolutely value the lives of the gun dogs we have in our home and consequently make careful evaluation of any dog prior to making them a forever family member. It is because of this fact that we do not call our business a kennel. Our dogs are part of our family. They hunt with us, live indoors with us, travel with us, and are an important part of the lifestyle we live.
I would like to provide some background with my experience with the Epagneul Breton. I enjoyed watching the dog work so much as a new upland bird hunter in my early 40's that I began searching for a versatile pointing dog and retriever that would meet my needs not only as hunting companion but as family dog in the home. The search led me to the Epagneul Breton. I became an EB enthusiast promoting the smallest of the pointing dog breeds at every opportunity. I primarily am an upland bird and waterfowl hunters enjoying the camaraderie of other Epagneul Breton owners. My goal with Prairie Prime LLC is to bring new hunters to the upland bird and waterfowl hunting lifestyle through education and conservation. And also to bring new owners to the Epagneul Breton gun dog breed through breed awareness, Prairie Prime LLC puppies, and access to our regional breed club.
I founded the Chisholm Trail Epagneul Breton Gun Dog Club (CTEBGDC) in the fall of 2015 and currently preside as President of the CTEBGDC serving the states of Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Missouri, and Arkansas. The club hosts specialty and conformation shows, training events, and UKC sanctioned field trials. The CTEBGDC
facilitates a digital presence for the promotion of the Epagneul Breton with a website www.chisholmtrailebclub.com and a Facebook page. I also served on the Club de l'Epagneul Breton of the United States (CEB-US) Board of Directors acting as the national club Secretary from May 2016 - May 2019 and as membership director guided the CEB-US to 85% membership growth over 3 years. I serve on the Board of Directors for the CEB-US on Post 4 for the 2022-2025 term. I maintain annual memberships in the NRA, Quail Forever, Pheasants Forever, National Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited, a Supporting Membership in the CEB-US, and a Premier Membership in the CTEBGDC. In addition to being a life member of Quail Forever I am a Platinum Donor to the Epagneul Breton Foundation and currently serve as Chairman of this 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation tasked with educating the public about the Epagneul Breton and in funding educational, scientific, and charitable projects related to the Epagneul Breton gun dog breed. I am an annual donor to the NRA Hunting initiative to protect the sport of hunting in the United States and serve as a UKC licensed TAN and WRT field trial judge to the EB community. I commit Prairie Prime Epagneul Bretons to the guidelines for breeding practices of the CEB US to ensure the betterment of the breed in the United States. Prairie Prime is a registered breeder listed with the CEB-US by committing to the official policies on canine hip dysplasia and sable coat color. I have been a strong stakeholder in the Epagneul Breton in the United States by creating breed awareness with the upland hunting public at venues like Pheasants Forever's Pheasant Fest and Quail Classic trade shows in Kansas City and Minneapolis and also in organizing and participating in Scott Linden's Wingshooting USA television episode that showcased the Epagneul Breton breed on opening day of Iowa's pheasant season in the fall of 2016 airing on national television in August of 2017. A second episode of Scott Linden's Wingshooting USA featuring the Prairie Prime Epagneul Bretons aired nationwide in July of 2018. Prairie Prime Epagneul Bretons kennel was also featured in Gun Dog Magazine in the March/April/May 2018 issue showcasing the Epagneul Breton gun dog breed.
In 2021 Prairie Prime LLC opened a wingshooting club in central Oklahoma that is membership based catering to the gun dog owner. The club encompasses 640 acres of prime habitat for upland bird and waterfowl hunting. The club is designed to be a proving ground and showcase setting for the versatility of the Epagneul Breton gun dog breed. Dog clients of Prairie Prime LLC have access to the ranch for hunting, training, fishing, etc.
Prairie Prime LLC is committed to producing premier Epagneul Bretons for the upland, the duck blind, and the home. It is our opinion there is no better gun dog than the Epagneul Breton for our geographical region of the United States that better serves the needs of the modern day bird hunter. Today's bird hunter is becoming more demanding in their desire to own a versatile gun dog that serves as an upland pointing dog, dove retriever, waterfowl retriever, and indoor family dog. The Epagneul Breton breed is not only an amazing upland pointing dog for the foot hunter but it has the natural ability to excel in the dove field as a retriever and (when water proven dogs are bred) to excel as a waterfowl retriever. The EB has the intense drive to even retrieve birds as large as a Greater Canada Goose. See for yourself in the videos of our dogs Jock and Libby . The EB takes up a small footprint in the duck blind, they possess strong retrieving instincts, and are powerful swimmers. The Epagneul Breton breed is especially useful for early season duck hunting and in more southern areas of the United States where waterfowl hunting season temperatures are not as frigid. The EB is a single coat dog so obviously will not be as hardy for frigid weather water retrieves when compared to a double coat dog but our dogs will retrieve through ice. Our experience has been the EB serves the versatile function as a waterfowl retriever successfully in our region of the United States. Today's hunter wants their hunting companion to come indoors as an integral part of the family. The Epagneul Breton being the smallest of the pointing breeds with its docked tail easily proves to be a wonderful family house dog with a little training as a puppy.
At Prairie Prime LLC we put value in establishing lasting relationships with our puppy buyers through regional club involvement, education, and support. We create a great value with our Prairie Prime line of EB's by combining a fair price, high level inclusive services, and high quality puppies with only the best proven pedigrees. Thank you for choosing Prairie Prime LLC for your future puppy purchase.
